Biography

John R. Greene has now entered a well-deserved retirement from the legal profession.

Graduating with honors from New York Law School, an esteemed institution situated in Manhattan's legal, governmental, and financial epicenter, Attorney Greene distinguished himself as the editor of the prestigious New York Law School Law Review during his time there. Following graduation, he embarked on a career path dedicated to advocating for vulnerable children, joining the Legal Aid Bureau in Maryland. In this role, he tirelessly represented over 700 abused and neglected children, gaining invaluable insight into their needs and the profound impact they can have on families.

With nearly a decade of experience as Chief Attorney at the Legal Aid Bureau office, Mr. Greene not only managed the office but also mentored numerous attorneys in the nuances of child welfare law. This experience ignited his passion for facilitating the adoption process and assisting children in finding loving homes. Recognized as one of Maryland and the nation's foremost adoption experts, he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys (AAAA) in May 2007, a testament to his expertise and dedication to the field.

As a longstanding member of AAAA, Mr. Greene has continually contributed to the advancement of adoption law and practices. He received the prestigious President's Award in 2006 for his exceptional service to the academy. Additionally, he chaired AAAA's mid-year conference in Baltimore in 2007, focusing on 'International Adoption: After the Hague.' A respected speaker at AAAA conferences, Mr. Greene also served as the editor of the association's newsletter.

His affiliation with AAAA provides Mr. Greene with access to the latest developments in adoption law and a network of specialized attorneys nationwide. This enables him to assist birth parents and adoptive parents in Maryland with adoptions involving individuals from diverse backgrounds, both domestically and internationally.
